To help reduce the amount of hazardous waste in our homes, streams, and water supply, the IRC has teamed up with local municipalities. To ensure a clean environment for everyone to enjoy, we work with Logan Township, the city of Altoona, and the Hollidaysburg Borough. Please visit their websites to get more information on each area.
Policy Recommendations & Solid Waste Ordinances
The IRC makes recommendations to the member municipalities when changes in ordinances or related guidelines seem necessary and appropriate. The individual municipal governing bodies (city council, borough council, or the township board of supervisors) will then act on the IRC recommendations, facilitating cooperation and uniformity while preserving autonomy. The municipalities make every attempt to maintain uniform recycling programs and collect the same materials at the curbside.
