Bottles and Cans Recycling

Bottles and Cans Recycling at Buckhorn & Duncansville Facilities

The IRC Recycling and Composting facilities at Duncansville and the Buckhorn accept bottles and cans recycling. Both #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs as well as clear, brown, and green glass along with aluminum, steel, and tin cans are accepted.

The materials will need to be separated into the categories listed in the table.  It is important for residents to keep the different materials separate to ensure recyclability.  Our facilities are source separated facilities, which means that the recycling collected needs to be separated into the individual commodity streams.  The recycling at our facilities gets directly bailed and sold on the recycling markets.  There is no one to sort recycling that has been mixed together at our facilities, when recycling is mixed with trash it is trash.  Please pay attention to the different separations when using our facilities.

Accepted materials (free drop off at Buckhorn Facility; membership fee required at Duncansville Facility):

#1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs

Clear, brown, green, blue glass bottles and jars

Aluminum cans

Steel & tin cans
