Electronics Recycling Center
In 2010, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed legislation requiring electronics recycling including televisions, computers, and related devices. This service is a self-serve residential drop-off at the Buckhorn Facility and free to most Blair County residents. Residents are required to unload their electronics without assistance.
If you have truck load quantities, or would like to recycle electronics as part of business operations, please call the IRC Compost Facility staff at (814) 941-6675. All businesses MUST call the facility first to schedule an appointment for recycling; fees will be assessed for business electronic recycling.
The electronics recycling materials will need to be separated into the categories listed in the table below and it is important for residents to keep the different materials separate to ensure recyclability. Our facility is a source separated facility which means that the recycling collected at our facility needs to be separated into the individual commodity streams. There is no one to sort recycling that has been mixed together so we ask that all residents please pay attention to the different separations when using our facility. The Electronics Recylcing Program is Available to Most County Residents at our Buckhorn Facility Only. We are not permitted to accept them at any other location.
This service is available to all residents in participating mandated municipalities (City of Altoona, Hollidaysburg Borough, and Logan Township) and residents in non-mandated municipalities.
Tyrone Borough residents should contact their municipal office for all recycling information, including hazardous materials and electronics.
Most Materials Free, Some Have a Modest Fee (payable by cash or check only)

Electronics Recycling Costs
Due to increased recycling costs for non-television and non-computer electronics, a small fee is now in effect for some of those items. The IRC Recycling and Composting facility still accepts a variety of items for recycling at the Buckhorn Facility and computers and televisions are still free. The following are the different electronic items accepted and the fee schedule. You can find a complete list of materials accepted and a description of our composting operations here.
