County Waste Plan Update Review Continues Through AugustCover

A draft of the Blair County Municipal Waste Management Plan Update was recently completed and the public comment period continues now through Monday, August 26, 2013.  A public meeting was held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 to allow any interested parties to ask questions and offer input on the plan.  The public may still submit written or e-mail comments through August 26th.  Beyond assuring disposal capacity for waste generated within the borders of Blair County, the plan makes a series of recommendations to enhance recycling and improve waste management in general in the county.  The Solid Waste Advisory Committee is encouraging all municipalities in the county to take an active role in moving closer to a zero waste region.  You can take a look at these recommendations in the plan summary or review the entire plan and appendices.
